Personal Style: Print + Texture

A few new tops. I’ve been trying to wear more print (see middle and right), but I still like monochromatic with a twist. While it’s hard to see (click to enlarge), the white shirt has a quilt star in the center. Now Brannan with his all white correllcorrell colour wheel top and I can match-ha ha

Totokaelo

May 7th, 2009

While I’ve watched Seattle boutique, Impulse, for a few years now I’ve never featured them as they originally just had a blog that wasn’t incredibly easy to shop and then they locked their items behind membership at newly opened sister store Totokaelo.

I finally became a member a month or so ago but was excited to receive an email earlier this week stating that they were now opening the shop up to everyone. I do like the community aspect of the site, as the shop’s staff, other members, and even the owner will respond quickly to any questions anyone has about any of the items. It’s a smart idea to sign up to join because it’s obviously incredibly helpful to figure out if an item will work for you prior to purchasing it. I think it was a good move though, to open the site up for the casual viewer/shopper.

They have a fabulous selection of cult and independent designers and their customer service is stellar. I ordered an item a few weeks back and it came beautifully wrapped with a hand written note on gorgeous letterpress stationery. If you’re looking for your favourite indies Totokaelo is an excellent place to start.

Anica + Daily Wear

April 23rd, 2009

I featured SF boutique, Anica, many moons ago, but I recently revisited and had to post again.

A couple things that are a must mention:

Owner Rati Sahi is the sweetest person ever! I recently made a purchase (see daily wear pics below) and she was wonderfully helpful and communicated directly with me. Rati-you’re a doll!

Having genuine, personal contact with the people that run online stores just makes the shopping experience a dream. So guys, shop here, you won’t be disappointed. :)

Also, Sahi’s philosophy of offering classic basics is perfectly evident in her online offerings. Nothing is flashy and the items aren’t necessarily trendy, but I found myself wanting most everything on the site.

I purchased the amazing wood wood drop crotch khaki pants that are favourites of Sahi’s, and adore them. I think I just found the base for a daily uniform-ha.

I’ve taken to photoshopping ridiculous photos (kelp forest for the ones below) into the backgrounds of my daily wear shots as you can see. I loved the pairing of the Rachel Comey heels with the pants as shown on the shop’s site so I did the same.

Cry Wolf

January 22nd, 2009

Found another little gem of a NY boutique. Cry Wolf stocks loads of small unknowns, and have an equally good selection of men’s (see sneakers) and women’s clothing. Everything on the site appears to be on sale right now, as well.
