Anyone remember this post from May? I’ve actually made some progress – go me. It’s by no means done (lots of clean-up work), BUT it is mounted and it’s that much closer to actually being hung on one of our walls. Since we’re coming to the tail end of our new arrivals I’m hoping to devote a ton more time to it, get started on a new one, and churn out some more Pour Porter label things. So ready to do this
Ok, I’m putting this up here for several reasons:
1. I’m getting tired of just making shop update posts
2. I promised some time ago to try and liven things up here with more personal anecdotes
3. I need to finish the clean-up on my weaving, cut it off the loom, and get it hung!
I started this wall hanging last year (I think it was in the fall) because I wanted to mimic a vintage hanging. Kind of a challenge finding the right yarns that weren’t too pricey and attempting to match the pattern but acknowledging this would be in no way a perfect copy. I’m pretty happy with it, and more than ready to start up on the next piece.
Anyway, this post is mostly supposed to serve as motivation to finally complete the darn thing! I’ll post after photos – I promise
Um, holy freaking amazing. Animated weaving by CCA MFA student Kate Nartker. I’ve my friend and equally talented artist, Toyin to thank for this mind-blowing discovery. Having been dabbling in some weaving recently during my limited free time, I can only imagine how many hours, days, and months Nartker spends creating just a few frames of animation. P.S. You’ll want to full screen these
