Um, holy freaking amazing. Animated weaving by CCA MFA student Kate Nartker. I’ve my friend and equally talented artist, Toyin to thank for this mind-blowing discovery. Having been dabbling in some weaving recently during my limited free time, I can only imagine how many hours, days, and months Nartker spends creating just a few frames of animation. P.S. You’ll want to full screen these
I’ve the lovely Nora MacLeod to thank again for the discovery of this artist. Magnhild Disington is a designer and former masters textile student based in Denmark. Disington creates objects that challenge and play with conventional assumptions of shape, form, and raw material. The images above (click to enlarge) are excerpted from her collaborative Deep Sea series (amazing!), and you really have to see them full size to fully appreciate them. I highly recommend a look at her other series as well-each one is provocative and unconventionally beautiful
Rowan Mersh is a textile artist who, in addition to his sculpture and installation work, creates elaborate, conceptual jewelry and clothing.
