Barbara I Gongini

December 3rd, 2008

I’m not really a fan of posting things I’ve seen on other blogs, but this designer was just too cool to pass up. So, thanks to coolhunting.

Barbara I Gongini likes to take a conceptual, experimental approach to fashion design, and believes firmly that fashion can encourage social change. The line also draws inspiration through cooperation and interaction with artists across the spectrum of artistic disciplines such as film, photography, and music.
The label is also firmly committed to sustainable business practices, which not only means producing a ‘green’ product, but adhering to a slower growth business model, as well.

Noble aspirations aside, I think the clothes are just really cool! Also, be sure to check out the quicktime video of the runway show-it feels more like an installation piece.

iWood Sunglasses

April 27th, 2008

Let’s ignore the dated, jump-on-the-bandwagon name for a moment. (And the poorly designed website) iWood Ecodesign is in the perfect position to capture the attention of anyone who cares about sustainable design and eco-friendly lifestyles. Which, as of late, seems to be most everyone.

Their wood-framed sunglasses are surprisingly stylish and they offer a nice selection of shapes so you can find the style that looks best on your face.
