I’ll bet everyone here has lost count of how many times they’ve heard/read some stranger, family member, friend, etc. bang on about how important it is to fill your closet with pieces that will work with most everything you own. Blah, blah, boring, right? It may get tiresome to keep hearing it, but alas, it’s true. Of course, staples don’t have to mean unremarkable pieces you won’t remember as soon as you shut your closet door, and it doesn’t mean you can’t have a bit of fun with them. Style and practicality don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
Jeffrey Monteiro’s clothing is simple without being mundane. I’m especially loving the pants in the F/W 09 collection. There is a lot in this collection that is incredibly sophisticated, wearable, and essential. (Don’t forget to click the pictures to enlarge.)
Silver cast bottle cap necklace: $75
Cotton crochet and cast brass key necklace: $70
Cotton crochet and brass ring necklace: $65
Speaking of simplicity, Erin Considine’s crochet and metal necklaces rework simple materials into delicate embellishments. Really stunning, unfussy pieces. I wish there was more information on her design philosophy and process, but I can settle with just admiring her pieces. Be sure to click through to her site to see the pieces worn and at a larger scale. Again, you can click the images here to view them larger
Sorry about being MIA for a couple of days. I’ve been working in the field and have had no time to update. I’m back for the remainder of this week, however.
Everyone has heard of Cheap Monday by now, but I’m willing to bet not everyone is aware that Cheap Monday falls under the parent brand, Weekday, as do labels Weekday MTWTFSS, Weekday Extended, and Sunday Sun.
All of the pieces for each of the labels have a simple, clean look and remind me in some ways of the APC aesthetic. I don’t think Weekday MTWTFSS, Weekday Extended, or Sunday Sun are available in North America, but I could be wrong. I’m hoping some retailers here in the states will start carrying them soon!

I’m loving the raw edged simplicity of Australian designer, Therese Rawsthorne. The individual pieces have a beautiful layered quality, which is perfect for someone like me who struggles (I know, how is that hard!) with layering several pieces at once.
It’s not often that I find myself liking every piece from a designer, but this is an exception. I wish I could have posted more photos, but you’ll just have to click on the link to the designer’s website to see more. It’s worth it!
I’ve posted pieces from all of the collections, starting with A/W 07/08.
