If you’ve been a follower of PP for some time you’ll know I’ve been a longtime fan of German label Reality Studio. I own a jacket that I wear constantly. It’s been awhile since I’ve perused any of their collections, and an intriguing glimpse of their upcoming A/W 12/13 collection on Stil in Berlin prompted me to revisit. Images from Reality Studio’s site from their A/W 11/12 and S/S 12 collections
So I’ve posted about Prose, Swash, and Vilsbøl de Arce recently and was happy to find that Ssaw, based out of Stuttgart, Germany, carries these lines and more. They have a nice, limited assemblage of items so you won’t be overwhelmed by too many choices. And guys – O.M.G.they have the Prose dress I’m nuts about (see above and click to enlarge)! Unfortunately, I’m a little tied up buying inventory for the Pour Porter shop, so I’ll just have to admire it from afar. They will ship internationally, although at the moment their delivery terms are all in German. Prices are in euros, and you’ll have to forgive me for being too lazy to do the conversions for you today
I was going to post something different today, but I decided to visit the site of a label I’ve posted about before and I absolutely love the latest collection so I couldn’t resist posting again. And it’s not hard to guess that I’m a big fan of the baggy rolled khakis (yes, I’ve been going on about rolled khakis for the better part of this year!). I also love the use of ikat, which was popular for a hot minute with interior design spreads and bled over a bit into the fashion world a year or so ago. I still like and wear ikat.
This is the thing with the fashion world right now, or at least based on my observations, yes, there are trends (can we knock it off with the cyber/robot/dominatrix/80s/90s redux looks finally?) but really you can wear most things for years now and still look current. I think this realitystudio collection encompasses this style zeitgeist perfectly because you have both the slouchy and skinny look in the same collection.
Anyways, back to this collection specifically. It was apparently inspired by the film Atanarjuat (The Fast Runner), and you can see the influence in the colours and some of the shapes and accessories, but it’s fortunately in no way a literal interpretation. I even see a bit of a Bedouin reference. We were lucky enough to see this film when it was in theaters in 01/02. It’s funny, this film is almost 10 years old, but I’ve seen and heard references to it popping up again recently. If you haven’t seen it, you definitely should!(Be sure to click the images to enlarge)
