Quite a few years back British shop, Oki-ni carried womenswear and offered, at the time, a rare selection of cool Japanese denim lines. I even purchased a couple pairs of shoes from them. Then, and I can’t quite remember exactly when (it was a few years ago) they switched completely over to menswear. Let me just say, they’ve only gotten better. Their styling, their selection, and their accessories are all fantastic. I told Brannan, “You should buy all of your clothes from them!” Ha! Their international shipping rates are really reasonable and you can view prices in several different currencies. I’m sure a lot of you have heard of Oki-ni by now, but if not, it’s a must visit

Simple, timeless leather goods produced by brothers Chris and Kirk Bray. Their passion for craftsmanship and hard work has resulted in beautiful accessories that can span the generations. Thanks to Grain Edit’s twitter for the tip on Billykirk. The video after the cut gives a nice overview of the brothers’ philosophy and a look at their workspace

Another post about another shop from Sweden! Stockholm based Ashtray stocks menswear from both large and small brands, Scandinavian and international. This makes for a nice, tight selection that’s easy to browse. The best part though (and all the more reason to shop them) is that they offer free shipping worldwide and obviously knock off the EU tax for their international customers. (I’ve listed prices in U.S. dollars minus the 25% VAT)
Ssense was one of those online boutiques that I browsed on the rare occasion, but was never very interested in due to cheesy models, cheesy styling, and a meh selection of labels. Fast forward to a few months ago and now I’m definitely going to become more of a frequent visitor! The owners got smart and ditched the corny SoCal models and styling, and most of the Hollywood starlet labels and focused instead on the demographic who likes a side of intelligence with their style. You can now find cerebral, arty favourites like Obesity and Speed, MM6 Maison Martin Margiela, Rogan, Tsumori Chisato, and Wayne. (You can click on both images to enlarge)
I’m going light on the writing this week, but I have to say that Context is a pretty fantastic men’s boutique with an impressive, comprehensive selection.
