Jakub Polanka

January 28th, 2010

No matter how oversaturated the fashion scene is right now with draping and layers and so on, I can’t give up my love for easy, fluid shapes. Yes, my love of all black may have been hit by an 18 wheeler and backed over repeatedly, but no, fashion blogging world, you cannot destroy my love for the art of draping.

Czech designer Jakub Polanka is quite the master and I was happy to see that, although the latest collection is a mostly monochromatic one, at least it’s not black! What’s most amazing is how consistently good his collections have been over the years- be sure to browse them all along with the Concepts section. I do like how each collection is a variation on some colour gradient (♥ citron yellow).
I’ve posted pictures from his S/S 2010, Spring 2009, and Fall 2008 collections

Maria Cornejo

June 12th, 2008

I haven’t posted anything from personal favourite, Maria Cornejo, lately, as I’ve been somewhat uninspired by her more recent collections. Fortunately, her S/S 08 collection is chock full of beautiful, muted prints, and the expert draping that has come to define her modern aesthetic (F/W 08 is wonderful, too). She’s also expanded her accessories, and those pieces are just as nice.
