It’s surprisingly been almost three years since I posted about Humanoid. Happily, since then, the label is more widely available and they’re still creating beautiful, slouchy clothing with loads of layering potential. Sisters Madelon Lanteri-Laura and Natalie Vodegel are Dutch, but their label Polder is quintessentially French. Both moved to Paris to study archeology and art history during their college years and thenworked for French designers following university.
The shapes are classic, the colours soft, and all of the pieces have such an effortlessly cool quality. The label has been around since 2000 and I recall stumbling across some of their pieces over the years, but it has managed to maintain a low profile, which I think fits the brand perfectly.
Dutch designer Elsien Gringhuis loves sculpted structure. The former Ann-Sofie Back intern is already starting to make a name for herself with a win for the Best Avantgarde at the 2008 Createurope Fashion Academy Awards. Yet another talented Dutch designer to watch.
