MaxJenny

June 10th, 2010

Here’s my little confession, Tuesday night when I was supposed to be browsing my bookmarks so I could make a post on Wednesday, I instead spent my time obsessively shopping siphon/vacuum pot coffee makers. So no Wednesday post. HOWEVER, I was very good last night and did my blogging duty so I’m posting! (Some day I will make a post about siphon/vacuum pot coffee makers here ’cause I’m kinda obsessed, you know, like I just said.)

So, yes we’re just plunging into summer, the rainy season has about ended, and the hottest months are still ahead of us but that doesn’t mean that I ever stop the hunt for jackets and coats and the like. I was pretty enthused to find these beautifully colourful raincoats by Danish label, MaxJenny. Yes, I love neutrals, but I am really feeling the colours here. Not to worry though, you chromaphobes, they have a bunch jackets in voluminous black, too. Oh, and I should probably mention that all of their pieces are made from recycled PET bottles and dyed with waterbased colours. You can shop the collections on the site, and all prices are in euros

So I’m putting aside my usual complaint about the excessive proliferation of all black ensembles to feature Vilsbøl de Arce today. Yes, I’d like to see more colour BUT I’m loving the fascinating, architectural shapes the two women (Prisca Vilsbøl and Pia de Arce) behind the label have created and the wonderful play of textures present in their most recent A/W 09 collection. I’d love to see more of these shapes in something other than black, but for now there’s plenty to engage the eye! The images can be enlarged by clicking on them

Won Hundred

June 9th, 2009

Danish label, Won Hundred, sort of reminds me of A.P.C. before it became incredibly trendy. And by this I mean that the label consists of clean basics with a focus on great shapes and pieces that can’t be immediately identified as belonging to a particular brand (not that A.P.C.’s stuff isn’t still great basics!). They also have a men’s line.

You can find select pieces in the States at Totokaelo and Revolve.

Danish label Engbirk, as is simply stated on the website, is classic clothing with a twist.

Best Behavior

February 20th, 2009

I’ve been posting a lot of neutrals lately, so for today I’m posting pieces from Best Behavior with bright pops of colour. The clothes are drapey and relaxed, but it’s the use of colour that elevates these clothes from the typical minimalist fare.

Danish designers, Marie Ørberg and Malene Brøchner created the line in 2004 with the intent to create pieces, “…where the focus is simple colours, unusual cuts, cool details and above all – a good fit.”
Done, done, done, and done!

I posted an item from the line in this post on Cry Wolf. The items posted below are from the S/S 09 collection. Be sure to click the ‘read more’ link to see a couple more.
