Back when I posted about Seelenkleid, not quite a year ago, I hadn’t started to tire of all-black clothing and was just beginning to appreciate an all-white palette. Fast forward not quite 12 months and the monochromatic white silhouette dominates Ella Haberlach’s latest with a sprinkling of midnight blue in the form of delicate devore velvet pieces (second piece below) and melted silicone. Lest you think all-white sounds immensely boring, just have a look at the collection. Haberlach plays with transparency, disintegration, softness and rigidity all to fascinating effect. Select pieces are available at pixie market and Doshaburi. (Don’t forget you can click the images to enlarge.)

Somehow I spaced posting when New York shop, Project No. 8, finally made products available online. So a belated hooray for that. They don’t have a massively huge selection but what they do have is quality

Austrian/German label Hartmann Nordenholz has apparently been around since 2000, but they’ve obviously not received much attention on this side of the pond. Interesting, considering that many aspects of their earlier collections feel very much ‘now’. I suppose it just took the rest of the fashion world a bit of time to catch up! Anyways, their latest collection reminds me of the airbrushy, paint splattered tees of my early youth, but Hartmann Nordenholz’s version is much better than the original. While sharp tailoring has played some part in all of their collections, loose, draped shapes seem to characterize most of their work. So I’m putting aside my usual complaint about the excessive proliferation of all black ensembles to feature Vilsbøl de Arce today. Yes, I’d like to see more colour BUT I’m loving the fascinating, architectural shapes the two women (Prisca Vilsbøl and Pia de Arce) behind the label have created and the wonderful play of textures present in their most recent A/W 09 collection. I’d love to see more of these shapes in something other than black, but for now there’s plenty to engage the eye! The images can be enlarged by clicking on them
