We were away on a backcountry wilderness trip up near the Continental Divide Saturday through Tuesday so obviously there was no post on Monday. We’re headed to the markets in NYC this Saturday through Wednesday so I probably won’t get a chance to post much next week either. FYI and all of that!
Anyway, today’s post is courtesy of thelooksee. Australian artists Abby and Kate collaborate to produce amorphous but delicate porcelain accessories for their Golden Ink line. Be sure to click over to see more. I really like the muted colours and penlike painted detail.
Generally, when I think about Australian designers I think bright colours and playful, trendy silhouettes, which I admit is kind of silly since I’ve featured plenty of Aussie designers who don’t really fit that mold. I am not going to lie though when I say I was surprised by the relaxed maturity of the brother/sister duo designed Alpha60. Maybe it’s my age, but I find myself increasingly looking for clothing that doesn’t make me feel like some sort of youth trend victim. This label appeals to my old lady ( ha ha ) sensibilities with a lovely balance of structure, draping, and clever prints.
Bear with the annoying flash based website to check out their collections, and you can buy their pleated scarves off their online shop
I’ve posted previously about Aussie label, Willow, but I visited again recently and wanted to re-post. Since my initial feature, Willow has been popping up all over and rightfully so.
The line remains characterized by soft draping and wearability, which makes the line a nice alternative to the recent affinity for aggressive, hard edged silhouettes.
I’ve posted photos from the A/W 08/09 and S/S 09 collections. You lovers of the current thigh high and beyond boots will like the A/W collection. You can find Willow at quite a few online retailers now.

I’m loving the raw edged simplicity of Australian designer, Therese Rawsthorne. The individual pieces have a beautiful layered quality, which is perfect for someone like me who struggles (I know, how is that hard!) with layering several pieces at once.
It’s not often that I find myself liking every piece from a designer, but this is an exception. I wish I could have posted more photos, but you’ll just have to click on the link to the designer’s website to see more. It’s worth it!
I’ve posted pieces from all of the collections, starting with A/W 07/08.
