Personal Style: Lapis blue + Neutrals

A Détacher Fall 2010

As I’ve stated before I don’t generally post about Fashion Week because it’s covered ad nauseum everywhere else, but because I’ve been largely disappointed in what I’ve seen so far for fall in NY this year, I was pretty excited when I saw A Détacher‘s collection (♥ A Détacher-own a pair of booties that are some favourites) . It’s full of texture and warm neutral tones with some lapis blue thrown in. I’ve never been a huge fan of blue-I just don’t think about wearing it that much, but I have to say the jewel tone colour presented in this collection makes me want to wear it a ton more! What do you guys think-do you like blue?

Una

Well, back to Portland for today. I’m bit disappointed that I didn’t do a little more nosing around for great shops there until it was too late to visit them. Anyways, I posted a link to Una on the McTega post, but it really deserves its own separate post.

I spaced the fact that Una is in Portland while I was there until Ashley at Frances May mentioned it, and I spotted it in a slightly older edition of the eat.shop. guide for Portland that our neighbors kindly lent us. Unfortunately, they close at 6pm on Friday night and it was already quarter after 5 when I checked the hours to see if we could make it. Sad, but it gives me a placed to visit the next time we’re there!

Anyways, it’ll come as no surprise that I like Una because owner, Giovanna, stocks lots of independents and even some very talented local designers. While there is no real webshop to speak of, they do have a blog where you can see their current items and call or email to purchase. The items are nicely photographed and everything they carry feels so cohesive-great editing! They have a fantastic inventory of accessories.

Assembly

August 12th, 2009

Found this gem of a New York shop surprisingly via Lucky. Assembly carries an amazing, unique selection from obscure designers and have their own self-titled line designed by owner Greg Armas as well. They carry both mens and womenswear but all of the items are essentially unisex. Assembly collaborates with designers also and the product of these collaborations are sold in the shop. While the focus of the shop is clothing and accessories, they carry a well-edited variety of home décor objects and music. Assembly is definitely near the top of my list of favourite web shops!

Thoughts on White and Beige

April 27th, 2009

Anyone else find themselves gravitating to bone/tan/beige items lately? I bought a cute pair of beige corso como pumps a few years back and a pair of flat toast tan ankle wrap nana sandals and of course, recently the beige Rachel Comey clog sandals. I am feeling the white this spring/summer and pairing white with beigey tones just feels so perfect.

I am excitedly awaiting a new pair of cheap Mondays in white. I received them last week, but the sizing for this particular style is much smaller than the sizing for my ubiquitous black ones. So back they went and a new, hopefully better fitting pair is on its way.

I want some white linen I can tea dye to make summery scarves, too!
