Vilsbøl de Arce

So I’m putting aside my usual complaint about the excessive proliferation of all black ensembles to feature Vilsbøl de Arce today. Yes, I’d like to see more colour BUT I’m loving the fascinating, architectural shapes the two women (Prisca Vilsbøl and Pia de Arce) behind the label have created and the wonderful play of textures present in their most recent A/W 09 collection. I’d love to see more of these shapes in something other than black, but for now there’s plenty to engage the eye! The images can be enlarged by clicking on them

Context

October 21st, 2009

I’m going light on the writing this week, but I have to say that Context is a pretty fantastic men’s boutique with an impressive, comprehensive selection.

Stand Up Comedy

September 21st, 2009

If you’re like me, you do quite a bit of online shopping and have your favourite online shops, but you’re unlikely to get a chance to visit the corresponding brick-and-mortar location. Well, seeing as we’re in Portland this week and knowing that previously posted Stand Up Comedy is in the area, I had to stop in.

It’s an absolutely lovely, bright little space that contains just the perfect amount of beautifully edited clothing, accessories, and objects. The super sweet Lisa (please tell me I remembered your name correctly! I’m horrible with that-so embarrassing!) who’s an interior architect and helps out at the shop to get her fashion fix was very welcoming and helpful. Thank you again for listening to me rattle on and giving us tips on where to go and what to do in Portland!

Brann and I tried on a few items and I settled on a beautiful black linen dress by mono clothing and Brann found the colourwheel top by Correll Correll (also found here) in shades of white. I’ll do a daily wear post on the dress soon.

Anyways, I can’t recommend a visit to this shop enough. They’re really doing something special in Portland and online and you’re guaranteed to find something original and inspiring. I’m madly in love with my SSWTR poncho I was lucky enough to get a few months back now that they’ve got a mile long wait list. Don’t forget to add the shop to your bookmarks for frequent visits!
