Hi all! I’m sorry I’ve disappeared. Work for me has been absolutely crazy and overwhelming, and we (Brann and me) just started our vacation here in Portland, OR. That gives me time to mellow out and get back to my regular posting.
We landed in Portland yesterday morning and are currently staying at the traveling hipster’s hotel chain of choice, the Ace, which is actually ok because we love our room and everyone is wonderfully laid back and very nice. We chose a Standard Double because you get your own bathroom, privacy, and it’s not too expensive. The room has a clean aesthetic (all white bathroom, no art save an old movie poster, minimalist beds with industrial style clip lamps) featuring reclaimed materials, and cozy wool blankets.
Stumptown coffee is just downstairs and like everyone says they have damn good coffee! We’re pretty low key travelers so we spend a few hours in our room and then wander about a bit and just sort of function like we would if we lived here. We even got to hit up a local art supply store whose prices were the lowest I’ve ever seen anywhere.
We did get to stop by one of my favourite shops and I snapped quite a few photos and got a chance to chat with Lisa who was lovely about my babbling and very helpful. I’ll be posting about that tomorrow.
Several more photos of the hotel after the jump. See you tomorrow!

Left: The second bed. Right: A felted hand crocheted curtain pull.
Moleskine and portable watercolour set I purchased at a local art supply shop.
Packing up in the morning next to the wall art.
Last night’s tofu and mushroom marsala dinner at Farm Cafe.
Brann last night.
From this morning’s trip to the Japanese Gardens. A bit too touristy, but pretty with a nice view of downtown.
One of the bedside tables. I <3 Bon Appetit.
