Von Sono

August 13th, 2009

Delicate, billowing shapes with fascinating textural details characterize the clothing of Von Sono by German designer Stephanie Oberg. I have to say I love every piece and wish my closet were full of her pieces! Conceptual clothing that’s actually wearable heightens the overall appeal for me.

I’ve posted pieces from the A/W 09/10 collection, but be sure to check out the past projects because there is lots of good stuff there as well (especially summer 2005). You can find the label at Assembly.

Assembly

August 12th, 2009

Found this gem of a New York shop surprisingly via Lucky. Assembly carries an amazing, unique selection from obscure designers and have their own self-titled line designed by owner Greg Armas as well. They carry both mens and womenswear but all of the items are essentially unisex. Assembly collaborates with designers also and the product of these collaborations are sold in the shop. While the focus of the shop is clothing and accessories, they carry a well-edited variety of home décor objects and music. Assembly is definitely near the top of my list of favourite web shops!

Diana Brinks

August 6th, 2009

I love the draping in Diana Brinks’s self-titled collection. Brinks’s design philosophy centers on simplicity, timelessness, and singularity. While I’m not so sure that the shiny harem pants are going to be wearable beyond one season (or ever), I do like most of the other pieces and their layering potential. The clothing is predominantly constructed from silk, leather, knit, and wool and black is the dominant colour for most of her pieces.

I’ve posted photos from the A/W 08 collection as strangely the S/S 09 collection isn’t available on the site. You can, however, watch a video of the S/S 09 collection photo shoot here.

Weekday

August 5th, 2009

Sorry about being MIA for a couple of days. I’ve been working in the field and have had no time to update. I’m back for the remainder of this week, however.

Everyone has heard of Cheap Monday by now, but I’m willing to bet not everyone is aware that Cheap Monday falls under the parent brand, Weekday, as do labels Weekday MTWTFSS, Weekday Extended, and Sunday Sun.

All of the pieces for each of the labels have a simple, clean look and remind me in some ways of the APC aesthetic. I don’t think Weekday MTWTFSS, Weekday Extended, or Sunday Sun are available in North America, but I could be wrong. I’m hoping some retailers here in the states will start carrying them soon!
