Boessert-Schorn

June 22nd, 2009

Sonia Boessert and Brigitte Schorn of Boessert-Schorn make relaxed and comfortable deconstructed clothing, and it’s a shame their website has such tiny pictures of their pieces.

I like wearable clothes, but most particularly wearable clothes that are interesting, and this label certainly qualifies as such. Most of the pieces are constructed of jersey, wool, and cottons.

I’m one of those fans of big bags. You can fit all sorts of ‘essentials’ in them and still look put together. They’re especially handy when traveling! I think this Obey bag is the perfect summer tote.

Hope

June 18th, 2009

Swedish brand, Hope, is another label chock full of slouchy, wearable clothes that you’d be hard pressed to not integrate easily into your existing wardrobe. Again this is a label I’d found out about several years ago but never featured, and recently I’ve been seeing select pieces on a few U.S. based webstores (lagarconne and creaturesofcomfort in particular). Designer, Ann Ringstrand, worked for H&M as assistant buyer and designer prior to founding the label.

TOGA

June 17th, 2009

I remember discovering TOGA about four years ago (I’m sure most of you readers have heard of it by now!) and looking all over for the label’s site but not being able to find it, most likely because it didn’t exist yet. Fast forward to the present and I’d sort of forgotten about it until I saw pieces popping up on few webshops. This time my site search was much more successful.

I still love what Yasuko Furata is doing. There isn’t much for me to not like with her use of neutrals and fantastic experimental shapes! These are clever pieces that will turn heads and become the highlight of one’s wardrobe. The S/S 09 collection is the best adaptation of the whole clichéd Wild West look I’ve seen yet. I’ve posted pieces from A/W 09/10, S/S 09, and A/W 08/09.

Heal

June 16th, 2009

It should just be stated up front that Heal is undeniably cool. The brand spanking new label is the brainchild of France based Herve and Alice. Their first collection is brimming with wit and humour (check out the animated gifs of their pieces) and superb, precise technique.

The stitching details, three dimensional applique, and wickedly tough tailoring make for an inspiring visual feast, and it’s basically a given that this design duo is going to be big. What’s particularly interesting about this collection is that the fabrics consist of natural fabrics like silk and cashmere-there’s not a technical fabric in sight.

Be sure to download the pdf of the collection to see all of the pieces. I’m really looking forward to their next collection!
