Ok, blog feature time again! A couple months back I stumbled across reasonigetupinthemorning and realized shortly after the discovery that the author was none other than Karyn Starr of White Starr aesthetic consulting. I’d first heard about them when Cynthia Kling did a write-up on her experience with the duo in Domino (RIP).
Karyn has her own daily wear blog where she posts a series of photos of herself in dynamic poses in whatever she’s wearing that day. While the photos aren’t super high quality I love how she avoids the static pose, ’cause I mean really, who stands around with their toes pointed in all day? You get to see the clothing in motion as you would in person.

Starr’s blog is a favourite of mine for a few reasons:
#1. In a day where teen bloggers are ubiquitous and the norm it’s a relief to see a grown woman my age that has amazing, singular style. It’s inspiring.
#2. Starr wears nice labels but she’s not a brand snob (jcrew has featured prominently in some of her most recent combinations). She goes for what flatters her best and pulls it off fantastically, which makes sense considering it’s her business to help others refine their wardrobes and dress in the most flattering way possible.
#3. Maybe I’ve already said this in a slightly different way above, but Starr is an original. Yeah, you see things that are considered ‘hot’ at the moment (jumpsuits, blazers, big scarves) but nothing she wears ever has me thinking, “Seen this a 100 billion times already”.

Two more photos after the jump.
What the husband wears to walk the dogs when it’s been raining for two days straight.*
*Trapped in the house for two days = back-to-back posts.
So, I’m not a leggings person. I sort of feel the same way about them how I feel about the hideous fedora/porkpie hat trend and the corny ironic 80s tees that seem to be everywhere. Do not want.
I like my skinny Ksubis, and my tight Cheap Mondays, but for some reason I draw the line at walking out of the house in lycra-well, except if they’re riding breeches, because that’s a practicality issue-I actually do ride! Maybe it’s attributable to the fact that I had stacks of leggings and big baggy tunics growing up in the 80s, and kids, 80s fashion was BAD. The nostalgia for it as of late has been concerning to say the least.
Anyways, hence my confusion at being strangely attracted to these LNA zippered leggings. Yeah, zippers are a big trend too but that doesn’t bother me. I’m finding that I DO WANT these (not in the shiny scary silver or gross shiny black, though).

Also, I’m loving this Surface to Air tee. I still have my old rock collection from when I was 7, guys!

Daily wear from yesterday that proves I haven’t just been wearing all black lately!

I can hear some of you breathing a collective sigh of relief that I’m not posting more black, white, and every other neutral under the sun clothing today.
I admit, I need some colour pick-me up myself, especially since April is proving to be its typical rainy, overcast self.
Basso & Brooke provides the much needed jolt with their dizzying but impressive digital prints.
I’d love to rock just one of their pieces either on its own or with something clean and simple. It’s just the sort of kick-in-the pants all we all need going into the warmer summer months.
Photos are from style.com and I’ve posted looks from the S/S 09 and A/W 09 collections. Remember, when you see the ‘read more’ link to click it to see more.
