Featured Blogs

March 30th, 2009

I look at quite a few blogs, but only follow a few regularly. I’m going to start featuring some favourite bloggers here from time-to-time, and when the redesign is up and running I will have a blog links section.

Anyways, the first feature today is the always daring Zana of Garbage Dress. I’ve been following her blog for several months now and I always look forward to her posts. While I’ve never been a big fan of the blog as platform for posting photos of all of one’s ‘cool friends’ at all the ‘cool parties’, Zana makes me rethink that aversion. She and her friends are style trailblazers.

I could only get away with what she wears in my dreams ( I wish I had the motivation to dress up every day like she does). It helps that her shade of choice is black, too (I love me some black clothing). Her signature red frames have made me rethink all the times I eyeballed red frames and longed to wear them but passed them up because I thought they were too much for me (why heeelloo Selima for Jcrew). I think what appeals to me most about her is that she doesn’t take herself too seriously.

Zana also works for the innovative San Francisco shop, Harputs Market, which not only carries plenty of independent designers, but creates their own amazing line. How I (and plenty of others!) lust after their essential Swacket. Keep on being fabulous Zana.

Jessie of My Delusional Mind after the jump.

Jessie of My Delusional Mind is a very recent, and random discovery, but when I stumbled across her blog I was instantly drawn to her beautiful, texture rich combinations. She’s been trying to wear less black recently and has been doing a fantastic job of integrating colour into her outfits but in an incredibly cohesive way.

I love how her outfits are mostly made up pieces from chain stores, but she makes them utterly her own. She is living proof that you don’t need a huge budget to look chic and forward. And her snakeskin print jeans? Um, yes please, and this is the only time I’ve ever wanted to wear reptile prints on my legs. I have a pretty demure snakeskin print dress and a leopard print Rogan for Target dress, but that’s about the extent of animal prints in my closet. Amazing Jessie-keep up the fantastic work!

  2. Jessie,

My pleasure! I’m always looking for good under-the-radar blogs and yours more than fits that bill. You will definitely be added to my blog roll when we implement the redesign in the next few weeks. :)
