Shop Curve

January 28th, 2008

I seem to write the phrase, “well edited” a lot, but that’s probably because I don’t often feature online boutiques that don’t have a well-edited selection. Curve most definitely falls into the well-edited category, but what I like most about their online shop is the selection of designers. I’ve gotten quite acclimated to seeing formerly obscure designers on nearly every webstore I visit, but Curve keeps it fresh with several names that aren’t common fixtures.

Future Classics

January 25th, 2008

The term, ‘modern vintage’ is what instantly came to mind when viewing the collections of label, Future Classics, even prior to reading the designer’s philosophy. Indeed, I spotted references to the 1940s, 1960s, 1920s, and the 1980s. Nothing feels contrived or forced, however, and the label has a very distinct, personal feel.

I’ve included photos of pieces from the S/S 08 collection and from the F/W 07 collection.

Denwave

January 19th, 2008

I can’t remember if I’ve featured Denwave before, or if I’ve just visited it quite a bit. Anyway, they only carry a very small selection of their in-store items online, but it’s usually well-edited and frequently updated.

This is Genevieve

January 13th, 2008

Solution to the winter blues: cheery, playful pieces from new Australian line, This is Genevieve. Australian fashion always seems to be generally characterized by an airy, casual feel that just feels right in the dead of winter.

Pieces featured below are from the designer’s S/S 08 collection. So far, I haven’t been able to find any US retaliers that carry the line, or any Australian online shops that will ship internationally.

Willow

January 10th, 2008

Australian line, Willow encompasses everything I love to see in contemporary fashion: beautiful draping, wearability without the sacrifice of singularity, a subtle colour palette, and intelligence.
Surprisingly, at least here in North America, the label has flown under the radar for several years.

I’ve included photos of pieces from the July/August 07 collection and from the February/March 08 collection. You will recognize one of the dresses from the previous post.
